Hudson-Bergen Inn of Transactional Counsel

The Hudson-Bergen Inn of Transactional Counsel is governed by a Board of Trustees. Its meetings are moderated by its President. There are approximately 45 members of the Inn, which includes the Trustees.

The Inn is always interested in new members. Transactional lawyers interested in joining the Inn should submit an application and resume to the Inn.

The Inn meets nine or ten times per year from September through June, on the second Thursday of the month, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Court Plaza South, West Wing, 21 Main Street (across from the Bergen County Court House), Hackensack, New Jersey. Members are expected to attend every meeting of the Inn. However, the Board of Trustees recognizes that a member may not be able to attend a meeting due to unforeseen circumstances. Members are expected to contact the Inn's President by phone or email to report that they will be unable to attend a meeting.

The tuition for joining the Inn is a modest $150 per year, which includes a light buffet dinner at meetings and New Jersey and New York CLE credit hour certificates (2.0 CLE hours) for attending each meeting. The Inn will consider requests for waivers or discounts of tuition based upon financial hardship, with a view towards encouraging participation in the Inn irrespective of an ability to pay.

The Inn encourages attendance at meetings by non-members at no charge. However, the Inn expects that if a non-member continues to attend meetings, he or she will support the Inn’s mission by paying the Inn’s annual tuition of $150.

NOTE: Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Inn has been meeting virtually from 5:00 p.m. to 6:40 p.m. and the tuition has been reduced to $75 per year (which will be increased when in-person meetings are reinstated by the Inn).
